Cub Scout Day Camp is August 10-14 this year. Your Scout can learn to shoot a BB gun, learn archery, make crafts, play sports, learn camp fire cooking, and more! Remember, Scout Camp is the only place you can earn belt loops and pins for Archery and BB shooting. The entire family can get a taste of camp on Saturday, August 14 at Family Day!
The deadline to register is June 11. To register, make a check out to Pack 2809 for $75.00 and turn your health form in at the May 14 or June 11 pack meetings. Put your son’s group (Tigers, Wolves, Bears, or Webelos) on the check so we can ensure we have enough chaperones for the week.
As always, our Pack needs your help to make activities like this fun for your Scout. We need to have 1 adult chaperone for every 5 Scouts attending. Adults planning to volunteer as chaperones need to complete or renew their online Youth Protection Training, and notify the Pack leadership when turning in your Scout’s fee for this camp.
Concessions at the Talent show May 22.
We need about 5-6 people to take care of serving popcorn and drinks during intermission. We only need to have about 2 or so for the set up. It starts at 6pm. We need to have all popcorn ready for intermission since it only last 20 minutes and we need to have 2-3 lines to serve and take money to help things run smoothly. If you have a child in the show, maybe you can serve during intermission since you are already there. Please contact Ginny Gill if you are able to help.
Selling concessions brings in extra $$ to help run the pack.
Anthem lemonade stand in July
We didn’t do this fundraiser last year since we didn’t have a parent volunteer to coordinate the lemonade stand. It is the weekend on July 16, so if you are able to help, please let Melissa Daniels know.
Pack position openings
We are in need of the following positions to keep the pack running:
Chairperson - we just finished planning the calendar for the 2010-11 school year yesterday. Melissa Daniels will be stepping down in June, so we need to have an adult to lead the leaders meetings and work with the cub master to help the pack go. Required for Scout recharter!
Asst. Popcorn Kernel -Dave Daniels (popcorn kernel) will be stepping down after this fall and he wants to train a new kernel so popcorn transitions go smoothly. This job requires time in the fall tracking popcorn sales and collecting $$. Popcorn kickoff starts in August. Dave is also having a busy travel year for work and is scheduled to be traveling in the fall, so he really needs an assistant.
Membership- Miki McCorkle wants to step down by the end of the year and wants help with the rechartering duties for the fall to pass on information. This is also a short time commitment in the fall when new boys join the pack and when we as a group recharter for the following year (make sure everyone has paid and enter it into the computer).
If you are able to help, please let Melissa Daniels know as soon as possible.
Scout Bash 100 will be the council’s celebration of the 100th anniversary of the BSA. The event will be held at Kings Dominion on June 5th and will have:
- Scout demonstrations in the park.
- Evening arena show.
You don’t want to miss the evening STAGE SHOW! It promises to be a truly great night for Scouting. Acts include:
- The Amazing HOV Green Man Group
- Nationally Renowned Comic Ventriloquist – Mr. Steve Brogan
- Our Council’s very own storyteller… John Hankins
- The Mind-Boggling Magic Box Act (as seen during the Howl-O-Green Camporee… but with a new twist)
- Keeping with the HOV tradition… a debut performance for a few very talented singers
- A look at Scouting Through the Century
- Much Much More
Our pack will visit Peak Experiences Indoor Rock Climbing at 10:00 AM on March 13, 2010.
Cost will be:
- $10 for Scouts and siblings under age 12
- $15 for adults and siblings over age 12
- Belayers are free
This cost includes the price of climbing and lunch.
We will have pizza and drinks in the mezzanine area.
Everyone who participates needs to fill out the Acknowledgement of Risks form and bring it with you.
We still need adults (anyone age 16+) to belay. The more belayers we have, the more times the kids can climb. Belayers need to be trained by Peak Experience’s staff. Belaying classes are daily Monday through Saturday at 6:30 PM. At Peak Experiences.
