Cub Scout Pack 2809

Hi Pack 2809-
Our monthly hike will be this Sunday along the main section of James River Park. We’ll meet at Swift Creek Elementary at 1:30pm to caravan to the park. Everyone is responsible for thier own transportation. It will take us 25min to drive to the Reedy Creek parking lot. Alternataly, you can meet the Pack there at 2pm. Directions are below.

The hike will be approximatly 4 miles and will take 2.5 hours. Please bring water and a snack. Wear good sturdy shoes and clothes appropriate for being outside for several hours. The hike will be canceled if it is raining.

We’ll have our monthly hike this Sunday 1/30/2011.  This is the same plan as last month (except for the rain!).  Lets meet at Pocahontas State Park, near the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) museum at 1:30pm.  Please arrange carpooling amongst yourselves, as there is a $5 entrance fee per vehicle.

We’ll hike the 3 miles around Beaver Lake.  Please dress appropriately for the weather.  Bring adequate water, good sturdy hiking shoes/boots, snacks, and your hiking stick (if you have one).  No uniforms are necessary.

Hello Cubscout Families-
Here are the results from yesterday’s Pinewood Derby.  Congratulations to all participants!  It was a wonderful event.  Our top 3 finishers were:

1st:  Joshua Protacio
2nd: Mitchell Natale
3rd: Logan McKay

Trophies and design awards will be presented at the Blue and Gold next month.

Webelo II:  Joshua Protacio, 1st; Taichi takasuga, 2nd
Webelo I:  Mitchell Natale, 1st; Kevin Bennett, 2nd
Bear: Brandon Siljanoski, 1st; Mattias Clouse, 2nd
Wolf: William Manderski, 1st; Jake Bennet, 2nd
Tiger: Logan McKay, 1st, Aidan Oberle, 2nd

These boys will represent us at the Arrohattoc District Pinewood Derby Race on March 12th.  If one of these cubs cannot attend, the next highest boy in that rank would take his place.

Many thanks to all the volunteers who made this event possible.  I especially want to thank Bill Fussell who ran the computer (a frustrating job!) and was at the school late (11pm) on Friday getting everything ready.  A huge thanks to Shawn Clouse who coordinated this important and complex event and also sweated-it-out with Bill late on Friday.   I also want to thank everyone involved in concessions, the pit crew who ran the race , the folks who set-up and put away the track, everyone who donated raffle items (especially the cake!), the firemen who judged the design awards, and Bubba and his crew for brining the race car.   I am sure there are others I forgot.   Everyone’s efforts were appreciated!
